In my humble opinion a master feels like a master with pendants.
Pendant light above dining table height.
I like this height as it puts the fixture at 5 feet 6 inches above the floor just high enough for me to walk under if the room is rearranged.
For example if your ceiling height is 2 4m instead of 2 1m you would hang your kitchen pendant 78 88cm above your island bench instead of 70 80cm.
But in a master you gotta go grand.
This range assumes you have an 8 foot ceiling.
Basic guideline position a hanging light above your dining table so you have approximately 30 inches between the top of the table and the bottom of the light.
I love a pendant light in a master bedroom.
You can do table lamps in guest rooms.
But then again rules are made to be broken.
The height of a light over a dining table.
If the ceiling is higher the recommended standard is to raise the chandelier 3 inches for each additional foot of ceiling height.
The generally accepted rule for hanging dining room chandeliers is that the bottom of the fixture should hang between 30 and 36 inches above the top of the dining table.
When hanging pendant lights over bedside tables i like to allow about 70cm from the top of the bedside table to the bottom of the pendant light.
A rule some interior designers use is to add 7 8cm for each 30cm.
That gives you a nice amount of breathing room between the two pieces.
The standard height for hanging a chandelier or pendant lamp over the dining table is 30 inches from the tabletop.
Using an average 8 foot ceiling as a guide the general rule is that the bottom of the light fixture should land between 30 and 34 inches above the top of the dining table.
The fixture in my home for example is 36 inches above the tabletop.
